Increasingly fierce business competition demands that food MSMEs have strategies to build competitive advantage. One strategy considered important is the implementation of an entrepreneurial orientation that includes innovation, proactivity, and risk-taking. This study aims to analyze the influence of entrepreneurial orientation on the competitive advantage of food MSMEs in Pontianak City. The study used a sequential mixed methods approach with quantitative methods as the main approach and supported by qualitative data. A total of 100 food MSMEs were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that the model has strong explanatory power for competitive advantage (R² = 0.851). Process innovation, product innovation, initiative, and investment have a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage. Conversely, marketing innovation and market opportunities do not show a significant effect. The investment indicator is the factor that makes the largest contribution to building competitive advantage for food MSMEs. These findings indicate that increasing business investment, strengthening process and product innovation, and developing a proactive attitude are key strategies for improving the competitiveness of food MSMEs in Pontianak City. This research provides practical implications for MSMEs and local governments in formulating entrepreneurship development policies that are oriented towards increasing business competitiveness.
